Building #2 art piece on Watercolor paper

My aim is to create artwork that is atmospheric, and celebrates the natural world as I explore tree shapes, vegetation, foliage, textures, and water in different environments. There is an element of mystery and chance with each new piece, and I enjoy the process of experimenting with new materials and techniques. The images are cyanotypes, a blueprint-based process that turns the paper a brilliant Prussian blue. Cyanotype is an alternative photographic printing process that produces blueprints using coated paper and light. The process was invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842, shortly after the method was used by botanist Anna Atkins to illustrate the first book of its kind, Cyanotypes of British and Foreign Flowering Plants and Ferns, in 1843.
