The Baxter

White curtains flutter in the large sunny window of a room with metal beds and a wooden floor.
A room at The Baxter

The Baxter, our Safe Haven in Elmhurst, Queens, opened in January 2021 at reduced capacity due to COVID-19. Eventually it will house some 75 people transitioning from living on the streets to permanent housing.

The Baxter provides each resident with a bed, personal space and locker that are available to them 24 hours a day. It also offers nutritious meals, psychiatric and medical services, case management, help reconnecting with community and family, and help securing permanent housing.
