Supporting the Upper West Side with programs, resources, and connection across generations.

Located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center (LSNC) is a vibrant community hub where we connect neighbors of all ages to the support they need to thrive.

From early childhood education and youth programs to older adult services and food access, we provide a wide range of programs rooted in community, opportunity, and care. As part of Goddard Riverside, we also connect West Side residents to a broader network of services across New York City.

  • Support for Children & Families
    Early childhood education, after-school programs, and summer camp opportunities that help young people learn and grow.
    • Early Childhood Education (2–5 years)
    • After-School Programs + Summer Day Camp (K–6)
  • Youth & Young Adult Opportunities
    Programs that build skills, confidence, and career pathways—including job readiness and training programs.
    • COFA (Creating Opportunities for Amsterdam)
      • A free year-round pathways program for teens and young adults ages 14 to 26, with a special focus on at-risk youth.
    • Free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Patient Care Technician courses

Since 1947, we’ve been part of the Upper West Side—growing alongside the community and adapting to its changing needs.

We were founded as part of the settlement house movement, with a mission rooted in supporting neighbors through accessible, community-based services. From the beginning, our work has been closely tied to residents of the Amsterdam Houses and Amsterdam Addition, where we continue to serve generations of families today.

Over the decades, the neighborhood around us has undergone significant change. A postwar housing boom gave way to urban renewal, which destroyed whole blocks and displaced low-income residents while transforming Lincoln Square into a major cultural center. Through it all, we’ve remained a consistent and trusted presence, providing support, stability, and opportunity for those who call this community home.

In 2017, LSNC joined Goddard Riverside, strengthening our ability to serve more people while staying grounded in the relationships and programs that define who we are. Today, we continue to build on that legacy—bringing together generations of New Yorkers in a space rooted in community, connection, and care.

The center occupies a two-floor leased space within the Amsterdam Addition building (NYCHA), at 250 West 65th Street. From its earliest days to today, it has primarily served residents of that building’s upper floors and the surrounding Amsterdam Houses (13 NYCHA buildings between 61st and 65th Streets).

Since merging with Goddard Riverside in 2017, we’ve expanded our reach while staying grounded in the community we’ve served for decades. Rather than being absorbed, LSNC retained its name and core programming, ensuring continuity for longtime participants while gaining the resources of a larger organization. The center continues to grow today!

As part of a larger organization, we’re able to offer more comprehensive support—connecting neighbors not just to programs at LSNC, but to services across the city.
