On June 5, members of Goddard Riverside’s Senior Center were among 12 groups honored by the NY Department of Transportation for their creation of safety signs to improve pedestrian safety in their neighborhoods.
The Senior Center, working artist Olivia Fu from Groundswell and with a DOT Safety Education moderator, created a sign that reflects a common traffic concern for the area: bicyclists who use the bike paths around the center, and senior citizens attempting to cross both the paths and the street.
The safety signs will be posted during a formal unveiling on June 25th.
