The Goddard Riverside Law Project has moved to block illegal short-term rentals at the Imperial Court, a rent-stabilized Single Room Occupancy building on the Upper West Side.
Residents say the rental of dozens of rooms to tourists leads to long waits for the elevator, linen carts blocking the hallways, overcrowding, noise and rowdy behavior at all hours. In June, a state Supreme Court judge ordered the building to stop accepting new rentals of less than 30 days’ duration. Litigation is ongoing.
