Goddard Riverside’s Options Center partnered with NYC College Line to host its first LIVE WEBINAR! This online meeting for college access professionals and students provided tips and tools to help students get ready to embark on the college careers.
Statistics show that the majority of college freshmen who leave in their first year do so during their first six weeks of the fall semester – because they are not able to make a successful transition. A successful transition means being prepared academically, socially and personally for what lies ahead. What can you do to support your students during the summer? Lots and lots! The months between high school graduation and the first day of college are the perfect time for preparation.
Discussion points:
- Summer Enrichment Opportunities
- Mandatory Summer Programs for HEOP/EOP/SEEK/CD Students
- Tying Up Loose Ends (housing deposits, final transcripts, outstanding documents and travel plans)
- College Checklists
- Key “To Do” List When Students Arrive on Campus
