Goddard Riverside’s longest-running and most popular fundraiser, our annual Book Fair, will take place this year on November 23 and 24 at the Bernie Wohl Center.
The Book Fair is made possible by our longstanding partnership with the publishing industry, which generously donates brand-new bestsellers every year to be sold at half-price. The proceeds fund our poverty-fighting programs for all ages.
“For more than 30 years, publishers, printers and booksellers have dug deep to make the Book Fair a truly special event,” said Goddard’s head of development, Beth Dunphe. “We are incredibly grateful to them for investing in our services to the community.”
We are also blessed with a huge staff of volunteers that organize and run the annual Fair, both from inside and outside the publishing world.
The Book Fair offers all kinds of reading, from contemporary fiction and classics to arts & crafts, sports, history and mysteries. The cookbook section is always well-stocked, and the Hot Titles table brings together the most-wanted books from every section. Our senior center knitting and jewelry-making clubs will be on hand to sell their hand-crafted wares.
Things kick off on the Friday night before the Fair with the Book Bash, where guests can sip cocktails and enjoy hors d’ouevres while browsing the aisles.
