On Thanksgiving and Christmas, Goddard Riverside will coordinate with our amazing volunteers to provide a festive homemade meal to anyone who wants one—as we have for years. But we’re also taking steps to keep our community safe from the COVID-19 epidemic.

“This year, all meals will be picked up or delivered,” said Goddard Riverside Special Events Manager Elizabeth Kennedy. “In addition, pickup will be held outside to minimize everyone’s time spent indoors.”

More volunteers are needed to help deliver meals on foot or by vehicle. Share the holiday spirit with your neighbors—sign up for a late-morning delivery slot by emailing ekennedy@goddard.org.

Volunteer cooks will arrive early as usual to make the side dishes by hand. But there will be fewer people in the kitchen at any given time, and an extra prep shift has been added on Wednesday to spread out the work.

Nonetheless, we’re still serving a full Thanksgiving meal, made with love.

“We may not be sitting down to eat together, but we’re still a community,” said Kennedy. “We’ll celebrate a little differently this year in the hope of seeing everyone around the table again next year.”
