Transitional Housing

Through our transitional housing programs, Goddard Riverside helps New Yorkers bridge the gap between homelessness and permanent housing. Each site provides a safe, stable place to live while residents receive the resources, guidance, and support they need to take the next step toward long-term housing stability.

Consistent with our philosophy of housing for all New Yorkers, our transitional housing programs provide safe, supportive environments where residents can stabilize, access resources, and work toward permanent housing.

Our four sites—three in Queens and one in Manhattan—serve individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

The Baxter

The Baxter is a 74-bed Safe Haven that offers transitional housing for unsheltered single adults as part of Goddard Riverside’s continuum of homeless services. Referrals are made through outreach teams via the Department of Homeless Services (DHS).

On-site services include:

  • Medical and behavioral health and wellness support
  • Entitlement assistance
  • Substance use counseling and groups led by Harm Reduction Specialists
  • Assistance completing permanent housing applications (HRA 2010E)
  • Housing voucher assistance
