97-Year-Old Phelps Resident Plays at Lincoln Center

Emily Kessler, 97-year-old resident of Phelps House and Holocaust survivor, made her musical debut at the Lincoln Center on Monday, November 3. Emily, a native of Ukraine, grew up playing the mandolin and violin. Upon her move to New York in 1980, she rediscovered her love for the instruments and began playing again. She has lived in our senior supportive housing building since 2007.
