On Friday, July 12, Goddard Riverside Community Center will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Phelps House – its supportive housing residence for older adults. The anniversary celebration will begin a 4 p.m. at Goddard Riverside’s senior center, and will also feature a talent showcase of Phelps residents. Councilwoman Gale Brewer will join the event to present commendations to the staff and residents.
Phelps House is a supportive housing residence built in 1983 and provides 167 units of affordable housing to 194 older adults and people with mobility impairments. The 11-story building opened its doors in 1983 with spacious one- and two-bedroom apartments to accommodate tenants caring for children or grandchildren or with live-in attendants. Onsite staff provides case management, as well as educational, medical, mental health, legal and money management services, all of which help tenants live independently for as long as possible.
