Realization, 2022 by Barbara Olsen

Barbara Olsen

After five decades studying at the Art Students League coinciding with careers in advertising and academia, my professional life seamlessly penetrates my artwork where Nature is the metaphorical muse of my creations. As a child, I grew up in the country playing in the woods where ambient smells and sounds resonate with Nature’s seasonal template and are carried by the wind into historical memory. I still play with this palette resurrecting and reflecting deeply felt emotions vibrating within each inspiration.

Realization, 2022

Artist – Barbara Olsen
Medium – Acrylic on Canvas, Framed
Size – 12″ high x 9″ wide

My signature band of contrasting stripes across the center is used to emphasize the difference between Nature then (in blue below) and now (in red above) as a color-coded metaphor of human culpability for destroying our environment.
