The merger of our Law Project with the Urban Justice Center’s Safety Net Project is a coming together of two historic legal providers to serve New Yorkers. They will form an independent entity called Justice for Tenants NYC, providing legal services and organizing support to renters. The new organization will have two offices in the Bronx and one in Harlem. Daniel Evans, who heads our Law Project, will be its Interim Executive Director.
I’m delighted our dedicated lawyers and organizers can keep doing their critical work for tenants. I’m grateful to the Urban Justice Center for their partnership and dedication to the cause, and to the elected officials who’ve supported this work for decades. Moving forward, our goal is to preserve the jobs of all staff members and provide continuity of services to the community. In the coming weeks we will work closely with everyone involved to ensure a smooth transition for Law Project clients.
