Goddard Riverside’s Children’s Book Giveaway will take place on June 26, 2024, from 3 PM to 6 PM.
Join us for an afternoon of fun and activities while picking up brand-new books! We will have books for children of all ages, baby to young adult, thanks to the generous donations of our publishing partners.
From 4 PM to 5 PM, enjoy a book chat with Author Jeff Gottesfeld, winner of the 2023 Goddard Riverside CBC Youth Book Prize for Social Justice.
Food for Hope: How John van Hengel Invented Food Banks for the Hungry by Jeff Gottesfeld tells the riches-to-rags story of John van Hengel, who launched the nation’s first food bank after an impoverished young mom showed him how much perfectly good food she could salvage from grocery store dumpsters.
At the giveaway, a variety of book categories including baby & board books, beginning readers, middle grades, picture books, YA fiction, and nonfiction will be available. There will be a 5-book per-person limit. After 5:30 PM an unlimited amount of books will be allowed to be taken. Books will be available until supplies last.
The giveaway will be located at our Isaacs Center, 415 East 93rd Street.
