Senate Residence
The Senate is a permanent supportive housing residence for formerly homeless adults, many with mental illness. An eight-story building, it comprises 135 single-room occupancy (SRO) units, offices, and community space. Most tenants are referred through the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) or the Manhattan Outreach Consortium, of which Goddard Riverside is the lead agency.
On-site services include medication monitoring, case management, money management, entitlement assistance, medical and psychiatric care, substance abuse counseling, work readiness training, a meals program, 24 hour/7 day per week front desk security, and group activities ranging from trips to the movies to quilting.
Developed in 1988, The Senate was one of the first low-income housing tax credit projects in New York City.
