Phelps House

Phelps House provides 167 units of affordable housing for older adults and people with mobility impairments. Designed as an independent living residence with one- and two-bedroom apartments, it also offers a range of supportive services for its long-time tenants who have aged into their 70s, 80s, and 90s.

On-site staff provides case management, as well as educational, medical, mental health, legal and money management services, all of which help tenants live independently for as long as possible. Recreational programming includes discussion groups, movies, trips to performances and cultural events, holiday parties, and gardening and plant sales based out of its adjoining greenhouse. Phelps House tenants are regular participants in a range of Goddard Riverside programs, including the Senior Center, Family Council, and intergenerational activities with Goddard Riverside youth participants.

Goddard Riverside opened Phelps House in 1983. The agency’s Senior Center, OPTIONS Center, and administrative and fiscal offices are housed in the same 11-story building.

Special video: The Chess Game; a video that caught a glimpse of one of the weekly games between Josh Marwell. Goddard Riverside board member, and Phelps House resident, Frank Brough.
