Goddard Riverside Outreach
Goddard Riverside Outreach (GRO) is one of the six outreach teams within the Manhattan Outreach Consortium. Goddard Riverside leads the Consortium which also includes outreach teams managed by other agencies in the borough.
Outreach workers identify and contact homeless men and women – targeting chronic street dwellers – through outreach on foot and in vans. As a first step, outreach workers offer housing options. GRO staff develops a unique service plan to assist each client with the ultimate goal of securing permanent housing. The plan might include psychiatric or medical care, screening for substance abuse and referrals to treatment, help with obtaining entitlements, escort to housing sites, employment services, or support in reconnecting with family and other social networks.
GRO covers two of the seven catchment areas in Manhattan: from 59th Street to 110th Street on the West Side, including Central Park and the downtown area below Houston Street. Regular program business hours are from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. After hours and on weekends, Goddard Riverside’s catchment area expands to all of Manhattan north of 59th Street and our partner Urban Pathways covers the area below 59th Street.
Since its founding in 1979, Goddard Riverside Outreach (formerly Project Reachout) has been recognized for its special expertise in stabilizing and housing the most fragile and disorganized homeless people.
A gift to Goddard Riverside gives homeless people the support, resources, and treatment they need to become active members of the community. Donate now.
